Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) promotes press freedom worldwide and defends the right of journalists to report the news without fear of reprisal. CPJ ensures the free flow of news and commentary by taking action wherever journalists are attacked, imprisoned, killed, kidnapped, threatened, censored, or harassed.

CPJ’s work is based on its research, which provides a global snapshot of obstructions to a free press worldwide. CPJ’s research staff documents hundreds of attacks on the press each year. CPJ denounces press freedom violations, meets with heads of state and high-ranking officials, spearheads or advises on diplomatic efforts, and works with other organizations to ensure that justice prevails when journalists are imprisoned or killed. CPJ also provides practical support to journalists and media support staff working around the world through up-to-date safety and security information and rapid response assistance.

Independent Communication Network Bianet - Stakeholders

The Independent Communication Network (BIA/Bianet) is the centrepiece of the IPS Communication Foundation. Bianet is an ongoing project trying to strenghten the independent media in Turkey. The center publishes periodic reports on the situation of media freedom and safety of journalists in the country in Turkish and English.

Freedom House (FH) is an independent watchdog organization dedicated to the expansion of freedom and democracy around the world. Freedom House assesses the challenges for media and online freedom in its annual Freedom of the Press and Freedom on the Net reports. The organization supports local efforts to defend freedom of expression and to promote the emergence of alternative media, assists embattled journalists and counteracts the rising tide of government control over the internet. 

Center for Investigative Reporting - Stakeholders

The Center for Investigative Reporting (CIN), funded in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) in 2004, is dedicated to investigative reporting, aimed toward providing fair and unbiased information, based on evidences and solid proof, to BiH citizens who need to make educated decisions. It focuses on organised crime and corruption and cooperates with a number of international media outlets.

n-ost Network for Reporting on Eastern Europe - Stakeholders

The Network for Reporting on Eastern Europe n-ost is a Berlin-based organisation which links 250 journalists and media initiatives from more than twenty European countries. Members of n-ost are against any restrictions that limit journalistic endeavour. The focus of n-ost is on detailed reports from and about Eastern Europe and on organizing Europe-wide journalistic projects on the promotion of media freedom and a European public sphere.

Centre for Media Transparency - Stakeholders

The Centre for Media Transparency (CMT) was a think tank active in 2015-2017, based in London (GB). It was founded by a group of individuals concerned about hidden influence in the media. It operated by coordinating and commissioning the work of others around media ownership and practice, producing the report "Media ownership patterns in post-communist Romania – 5 profiles".

Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso Transeuropa (OBCT) - Stakeholders

Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso Transeuropa (OBCT) is a think tank launched in 2000 and based in Trento (Italy). It focuses on South-East Europe, Turkey and the Caucasus. Over time, OBCT expanded its scope and now reports on the socio-political and cultural developments of six EU member states, of seven countries taking part in the EU Enlargement process, and much of post-communist Europe, which is included in the European Neighborhood Policy (ENP). 

In 2014, OBCT led the project Safety Net for European Journalists and since 2015 it is part of the European Center for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF ).
